About Kingston Cabinet Painting

A Cabinet Painting Company Built Around Kingston's Kitchens

Kingston Cabinet Painting is a cabinet painting company for the kitchens, bathroom vanities and built-ins of Kingston and the communities around it, from Amherstview and Bath to Gananoque and the South Frontenac hamlets. The work is insured on every job. Cabinets are our whole trade, so the conversation can be about one particular oak kitchen in Bayridge or one melamine galley near Queen's instead of painting in general.

The housing stock decides the method. A 1985 side-split in Cataraqui Woods, a 2010 semi in Westbrook, a limestone house in Sydenham Ward and a condo on Ontario Street all need different primers, different prep and different advice, and telling them apart is most of what we do.

About Kingston Cabinet Painting

The Cabinet Painting Process Is The Same On Every Kitchen, And It Is Written Down

Each door and drawer front comes down, gets a label and a photograph, and gets a degreaser that cuts through kitchen wax. Everything is sanded, filled and primed to suit the material: shellac for oak and cherry, bonding primer for melamine and thermofoil, standard cabinet primer for maple and MDF. Doors get two or three thin coats in a filtered booth, sanded between. Boxes get theirs in the kitchen inside sealed plastic.

That cabinet painting routine does not change for a small vanity or a large two-tone kitchen. It is what keeps paint on a cutlery drawer for years instead of months, and it is described page by page under our services.

The Cabinet Painting Quote Spells Out Count, Prep, Product And Coats

A one-line quote to paint the kitchen compares with nothing. Ours itemizes doors, drawer fronts and boxes, the material, the prep including grain fill or stripping, the primer and topcoat by family, how many coats, which colour, any hardware, and a price against each part. If a kitchen needs a door replaced or a thermofoil door stripped, that is a separate line. If another quote is on the table, we will match its scope item by item so both can be read together.

What We Will Say Even When It Costs Us The Job

We will say when a thermofoil door is lifting and paint will not save it, and that the honest routes are stripping or replacing it, as the thermofoil and melamine page explains. We will say when walnut or cherry deserves refinishing instead of paint. We will say that a particleboard box that has swollen should be replaced, not refaced, and that a listing date is too tight for a full kitchen when the doors alone are the realistic job. We will say that a colour is going to read cold in a north-facing room, and spray a sample door so the proof is on the wall. A cabinet painting company willing to paint anything put in front of it is not one worth having in the house.

Kingston's Humid Summers And Dry Winters Shape The Cabinet Painting Method

Summers here are humid and winters with forced-air heat are very dry, and cabinet doors move with both. Thin sprayed coats flex with the wood where a thick brushed film cracks at the panel joints. The booth is climate-controlled so the humidity of a July afternoon does not slow the cure or blush the finish, and cure times are respected before doors go back on. Cabinet spray painting explains why the booth matters as much as the paint.

What We Do

The Cabinet Painting We Do

All thirteen are on offer anywhere in Kingston and the communities nearby.

Fronts leave for a booth; boxes are coated where they stand, behind containment. What returns looks factory finished, wears a new colour, and costs a fraction of replacement. Kitchen cabinet painting is how a tired kitchen gets there.

Pre-Sale Kitchen Cabinet Refresh

A pre-sale refresh is a painted kitchen scheduled around a listing date, in a neutral colour that photographs well, with the vanity and hardware handled in the same visit so the house is camera-ready in two to three weeks.

Oak Cabinet Painting

Oak cabinet painting seals golden oak's tannin with a shellac primer, then fills the open grain or leaves it on show, and finishes doors and boxes in a sprayed modern colour so a 1990s kitchen looks built this year.

Cabinet Spray Painting

Cabinet spray painting runs the doors and drawer fronts through an off-site filtered booth and the boxes through sealed containment in the kitchen, the only cabinet painting method that produces a factory-smooth surface.

Condo Kitchen Cabinet Painting

In a condo galley or L-shape the fronts leave for spraying and the boxes take a single contained day indoors. The unit stays usable, and cabinet painting works around the building's rules on elevators and parking.

Cabinet Refinishing

Refinishing suits good hardwood that should stay on show: stripping or sanding removes the old finish, stain follows if the colour is changing, and the grain is sealed under a sprayed clear topcoat.

Bathroom Vanity Painting

A vanity is a small piece that lives in steam and splashes, so it gets the kitchen treatment of degreasing, priming and sprayed enamel, is finished inside two days, and is often booked with a kitchen.
